T E R M S

Grimoire: Is the ancient text from which all of these magical spells were translated and performed. The incantations in the book are meant to bring out the magical potential that exists within a person.

Magic Cards/Talismans: Are for ceremonial purposes and they increase the radius, effectiveness, and strength of magic.

Magic Circles: Are used when performing magic on something immense, either in size or number. Magical circles often have the magic user's magical shape drawn on them.

Magical Shapes: Is a shape that a magic user has the most connection with. For Sae it is a spiral and for Takeo it is a triangle. A diamond may be Akane's shape, but it's never stated.

Aburamen: This is the only kind of magic that's given any real sort of name in the series, unlike the others where they can be classified by what type of chant it is. Aburamen is powerful, highly offensive magic, it could be considered Dark magic. Akane does not know how to use Aburamen and she wouldn't want to know. Even Takeo doesn't seem to know this level of magic. The only two characters shown using Aburamen are Micky (a former member of the Magic User's Club whose father is a powerful sorcerer making her a powerful sorceress in her own right) and Jinno. Jinno is actually an unconscious, human manifestation of Sae's magic. This suggests that Sae could be capable of Aburamen, but it is unlikely she would be able to use it. While Sae has shown some extremely powerful magical potential under strenuous circumstances, she normally lacks the concentration and the finesse most of the time--plus she's really clumsy.
